A web-integrated course on language policy
La
Francophonie
Elisabeth Burr
During the Summer semester 2000 a linguistics seminar on La Francophonie was taught for students of French at Bremen University. The seminar took place in a computer lab. The course aimed at the integration of paper-based material and information available on the internet. The seminar was conducted in such a way that students had the possibility to take an active part in the elaboration of the seminar's Web-resource. For their presentations students were asked to create either a Web-page or a PowerPoint demonstration.
In my talk I will present this course and the rationale behind it. I will explain the preparation of the course, how it was conducted, the part students took, the assignments and assessments.
When doing this I will keep the "Guidelines on best practice for teachers" in mind which the working group on textual scholarship and humanities computing is preparing for ACO*HUM.
In my conclusion I will try to formulate some rules on the basis of a critical evaluation of this course.
