The popularity of hypermedia software continues to grow in our profession, and for valid reasons: colleagues are happily discovering that such programs greatly facilitate the creation of customized applications for a wide variety of uses. We therefore wish to periodically inform our readers about the latest versions of such software. In the previous issue I reported on many of the improved features of HyperCard 2.0 for the Macintosh. In this issue Professor Joseph A. Feustle, Jr., submits a companion essay which reviews ToolBook 1.5, the most promising hypermedia program for IBM PC's and compatibles. Those who use MS-DOS computers will find his article both thoughtful and informative.

[On your university IBM or compatible computer system]
(Type) TELL VMSSERV@UOFTO2 GET A A README. FIRST
If you are familiar with the files available and want to have one or more sent to your BITNET address:
    [On your university VAX]
    (Type) SEND VMSSERV@UOFTO2 «GET FILENAME.EXT HISPANIST»
(for example) «GET AA-DEPOSITORIO.FILELIST HISPANIST» [On your university IBM etc.]
(Type) TELL VMSSERV@UOFTO2 GET FILENAME.EXT HISPANIST (for example) GET AA-DEPOSITORIO.FILELIST HISPANIST

Some electronic mail systems will not accept a request for files EXCEPT by means of the «MAIL» function. If you have difficulty with the above calls, enter the MAIL facility. You may also ask for multiple files with one request this way.

To: IN%«VMSSERV@ UOFTO2.BITNET»
Subj: (a Return)
GET FILENAME.EXT HISPANIST
(Ctrl/Z to exit)

As you can see, you send a message as you normally would, omitting «Subject» and typing GETFILENAME.EXTENDER HISPANIST, and Return, for each file you desire. For full details, see «The DEPOSITORIO HISPANICO: an Electronic Resource for Hispanists», Hispania, Dec. 1989, 193-199.
