Graphical representations of the epidemiological forms and characteristics of leprosy in Spain
Evolution of the number of people discharged from the Fontilles Sanatorium between 1943 and 1952.
After the emergence, in the early 1940s, of the first effective drugs against Mycobacterium leprae, the bacterium responsible for leprosy disease, the sanatorium could start to discharge. This opened a new era of hope for people affected by the disease.
